Out cruising today and found playing with a 5.0 S550 Mustang. Eventually we had plenty of room ahead of us, and did two 45-100 pulls Almost immediately, I had 2-3 car lengths with him trailing further. Iā€™m pretty sure aerodynamics started to take over, or maybe just how his car is geared, but as we neared 100 I could see him catching up as I let off the throttle.

We pulled over and to my surprise his auto mustang had a Roush supercharger with 700 crank hp, he said 600 to the wheels. To his surprise, I was naturally aspirated. Not sure what my 347 puts down, but apparently enough to beat him. I was excited to have some comparison and something to tell.

A Roush supercharged '18 Mustang is a 10 second car. Your 347 must be a really strong runner!

As long as you get a good launch, HP can be calculated from either 1/8 or 1/4 mile drag strip MPH at end of run.

Your car probably runs well but it also weights less... Dyno numbers will probably disappoint. I bet it was a fun run.

The horsepower stats on my car with a 347 using weight of car and 1/4 et calculator says that my car has 386 hp and that would be to the rear wheels so add in 15-20% for loss from drive train and that puts it a touch over 400 at motor.

People always seem to think they have more hp than they actually have because they add up all the stuff that they have bought that says it adds x amount of hp and believe because they want to have bragging rites. I have seen some people put their car on a dyno and got physically sick when they got the results and wouldnt believe it

How much do you know about your car? I read you bought it from another member. You have some good pictures posted in the GARAGE but not much detail. Is there any additional information you could provide?

This is what I was told. I added the EFI, all ran through a built T5, 8ā€ Rear with TrueTrac Posi 3.80 gears. From what I read, the heads should be too restrictive to make big power unless they have been worked. Prior to purchase, the previous owner told me that he managed to pull on a hellcat, this was with the 750 DP that I replaced. I do know that at 3500 rpm to 7000 rpm this car is a monster, butt dyno having owned a ā€˜09 580 whp CTS-V.

That's a lot better head than I had on my 347. Mine went 11.50' so with traction it should be a low 11 easy. Probably 360-380 to the tire. I wish I'd tried to buy that car. Lol

that t5 coupled with a set of gears gives you MASSIVE pull :drive:
I used to have a maverick with a t5 and stock 3.00 gears, there wasnt alot that could catch it from a rolling start. that manual gives you alot of gear that an automatic just doesnt have. the c4 runs out of gear in first well before the manual, then second goes forever on a manual and an automatic falls flat after second.

    sounds like fun
I took a vw hatch with turbo with an auto from the light and up until we were running about 50 then it was all over I was out of gear and his turbo was probably on full blast because he blew by me like I was parked :D :burnout:

My old '85 GT had a DSS 331 stroker with ported Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads, Anderson N91 cam and a Parker Funnel Web with a Holley 850 DP. It had a TKO 500 trans and 4.56 gears. It was a 2,850 pound street car and my best time was an 11.22 at 122 MPH.
