I drove the 72 Grabber home. Went out 30 min later everything is dead. Tried to jump start, still would not turn the engine over. All light works, high low, left and right blinkers, stop and inside lights. 12V to the coil and choke with the jumper cables on. Disconnect the starer cable, Touch it to the jumper cables and got sparks. Put new starter and starter cable on and same thing. What do you think?

    Thanks
    Tony

Did you try jumping the starter solinoid on the fender???They are a common failure point.Other wise, like frank said, bad ground cable.

    starter short fix!!!

:Handshake Thanks guys for your help. I put a new neg. battery cable on and it started the first time I hit the key. Just to be safe I also put a new pos. battery cable on. I was looking at my headers, it looks like the drivers side is 1 1/2 and the passerger side is 1 5/8. I will start looking around see what I can come up with.
