Does anyone know if the 1971 - 1973 stock exaust wye for a 302 mustang work on a maverick with stock manifolds? My passenger side points straight back and the drivers side kinda points at the steering linkage and back slightly... looking at this below and wondering.

I guess I will find out when it arrives, I got impatient and hit the go button...

It could, but that would depend on two things: the first is the manifolds used on the Stangs, the second is the geometry of the chassis. Don't be surprised if it doesn't fit.

Hopefully it'll be close enough, could not find a maverick or comet one and did NOT want headers... i'll chop on it if it ain't quite right... but if it fits it will sure be nice for the original crowd wanting to keep the one pipe'r.

Assuming the manifold exits are correct, I'd think the 1970 pipe would be a closer fit... '69 & earlier exit out the back on driver side but I dunno on '70... It's listed separately but no pict...

Saw that but was scared withot picture, wasn't sure about the drivers side... I think it might be for the 302 boss that year.

Tom, love your avatar! All I can hear him say is "that guy was so mean if you poured hot water down his throat he'd piss ice cubes" that movie was great, and you can't polish a turd :rofl2:

From the few manifolds that I've seen.. these models use a specifically angled design due to tighter engine bay confinement. With that in mind, you'll likely be reworking the y-pipes angles off the manifolds with saw and welder.

Just a heads up, wound up with a H pipe as the Y pipe was on permanent back order... the fit is amazingly nice, fit manifold angles perfectly only problems wich are slight are clearance of my tranny dip stick tube (fixed by ordering new one from bronco graveyard) and the studs were a little on the short side for the thick style flanges. Cleared floorboards and tranny linkage well. Power steering is super close but clears fine without boot. I would say that all in all the 1971 - 1973 mustang H pipe is a fit for these cars or at least as close as you're gonna get considering the maverick comet pipe is not available at this time that I know of.
