This Grabber has been sitting for 12 years, when they parked this car at the storage lot they drove it in, they said it ran fine, well when i put the car in ANY gear (automatic) NOTHING happens. nice pinkish red transmission fluid and to the level on the dipstick. anything i can try? the linkage IS hooked up.

    Thanks Guys!

    CHaz.

Someone stole the driveshaft! :D

Make sure your checking the fluid level when the engine is running. If you rev the engine a little does the car move?

I recently had a similar thing happen to me.

The shifter "pawl" (where the cable hooks to on the transmission) had come loose from the gear shift "shaft". The pawl was just rotating around the shaft itself.

I hope it's something that easy for ya.

Cable is good. I was wondering if the pump was bad, can i replace JUST the pump by removing the drain pan? I did that once on an old cadillac.

    thanks guys,
    Chaz.

Funny thing. I guess after trying to get it to go into gear what tranny fluid i was showing on the stick disappeared so i added like 2 quarts after starting and trying to go into gear and it took its first baby step, jump forward and died, but its still low, tommorw im gunna put one more quart in and hopefully get to drive it around the lot... WOO HOO!!!

    Thank,
    Chaz,.
