the new vette everything would be sick in our cars even if it is just a dream. the performance of a vette, which you cant argue with, and the styling of a maverick. Best of both worlds if you ask me. at least its all american.

    Your opinion would be wrong!

The T56 has a great set of ratios in the first 4 gears, then 2 overdrives.
To say that it has an extra gear in the middle and one overdrive is wrong.
The first OD is around .75 and the 6th gear is .5.
This set up works exceptionally well with 4.11 gears. All while keeping decent mileage. 5th makes a great commuter OD, while the 6th really stretches it legs on the highway.
    A 4.11 gear = 2.055:1 final drive on the highway in 6.

Hey Terry you might not be able to use the tranny but wasn't there someone going to be LT1 or LS1 in their mav? That should bolt up with no changes wouldn't it? Maybe ya can make a few extra bucks...

Here are the supporting facts to my opinoin

    ---------1st----2nd----3rd----4th----5th---6th
    T-5_____2.95 _1.94___1.34___1.00___.63_______ $1129.95
    TKO-600 2.89__1.89___1.28___1.00___.64_______ $1585.00
    T56-011 2.97__2.07___1.43___1.00___.80___.62__ $2395.00
    T56-Viper 2.66 1.78___1.30___1.00___.74___.50___$2999.00

Now I'm no rocket scientist but isn't that a gear between 4th and 5th for $1265.05? That's a pretty expensive gear!!!! The Viper version IN MY OPINION would be the best, but still not worth the cost IN MY OPINOIN. I'm happy that you think it's worth the cost I hope that tremec pays you well.

BTW most drag cars bearly hit 4th gear 1.00/1 at the end so again I don't see the need for an extra overdrive

More supporting facts for my wrong opinion.:D At 70 MPH with 4.11 gears there is a difference of 446 RPM between .62 overdrive and .50 Not enough of a difference for me.

    Yes.
My first line in that post sucked!
    I apologize.

I was coming from this as the owner of a T56 equipped LS1 Camaro.
Not as a Maverick owner looking at doing a swap.
That was a mistake on my part because it is easy to take the T56 for granted when it comes stock in a car you own. That distances you from the problem of aquiring and adapting the tranny from scratch and potentially on a budget.
My tranny uses the same gears as you have listed for the Viper.
So would the tranny in question in this thread.
They are just not nearly as strong as the Viper.
The LS1 version is also unique and not adaptable (reasonably) to any other engine, including the LT1, which uses standard SBC driveline stuff.

My Z is 3.42 geared and the difference on paper between 5th and 6th would probably not be much... but it is PROFOUND when driving the car.

Again, apologies... I have good and bad days like everyone. ;)

If you can get it for next to nothing, e-bay that sucker and buy a tremec TKO. Just an idea.

I was hoping to get it before e-bayed (is that a word?) it. My buddy is going to put it on e-Bay and I'm going to show him how. How smart is that?:slap:
