Im suddenly having issues with my turn signal handle on the steering column. For years now it's worked perfectly both ways with all the lights. Now if I signal left it doesn't return to neutral after the car turns, and if I signal right it won't click into place, it feels stuck. Is this a simple fix after pulling off the steering wheel and plastic sleeves on the column? Any advice helps gentlemen

It sounds like you turn signal switch has bit the dust. There are three screws that hold it in place and the wiring going down the column which is the hardest part of the job. Sometimes getting the connection apart can be difficult. Be sure to disconnect battery first

The cam lever broke. (The white thingy, the squiggly tabs break off.) You can get another one, and sometimes just replacing it works. But it's best (and easier) to replace the whole switch assembly. The hardest part is in fact fishing the wires through the column. And with a coat hangar and care can be done in 20 min.

I tried the cam first but it didn't work right. Then I only had one brake light at a time. (It's hit or miss, I think depending on how worn the rest of the switch is)
So I bought the whole assembly. Worked perfectly first try.

The replacement cams I've seen are junk. Contacts are nowhere nearly as robust as the orig type.

O'reillys lists the above replacement cam as the option for tilt wheel, and the replacement I've attached as the option for without tilt wheel. :scratchchin: Do we know what the extra arm is for? Its unclear to me which part is the one I should see under the wheel of my 76

Look at post #4 and follow the link - there are pictures there

You can try the cam replacement, but it is the experience of many of us that it is at best, a temporary fix. The right way, is to put in a new switch.

I know its old thread but...
I replaced my cam today. Got 12V but no flashy flashy. Old cam worked but wouldnt stay up. I dont think the wire fingers are touching the contacts, but of course I cant see anything with the cam in place. They also look a lot shorter then the originals. guess its switch time.

I have a switch out of a 69.5 if anyone is interested. I bought it from Green Sales when I bought my car. I definitely won't be re-using it.
