I don't know, mine turns very freely, it was the piston hitting the valve that broke the #8 rod, looking at the top of the piston you can see where it actually started to spin the piston and the rod break is a "twisted" break not a snap then the piece of rod still on the crank spun around and gouged the oil pan in a u shape as it rotated and broke through just enough to leak oil...damn sight

Mine turned freely too but you could see on the rods and bearings that they overheated, stuck, and then broke free.

photo (50).JPG Notice the twist in the rod, also a "supposedly" experienced engine guy who knows a friend of a friend of mine looked at our block and stated "man, that block is useable providing it passes a magnaflux test, those broken pieces on the skirts can be cleaned up, hell that's the very area that you remove when making clearance for a stroker" now no way in hell would I entrust building another engine on top of that block I'm just curious does anyone here see merit in what he is saying? photo (49).JPG photo (48).JPG

Considering you can pick up roller cam blocks all day for $50, no.

Ah, I see well my cousin came by just a bit ago and I was showing him the damage and mentioning all the stories you guys have passed along to me about your problems and how you had to pick up the pieces and keep on going, that basically ya'll are a great bunch trying to help me get through this rough time and I looked at him and after what seemed like forever he said in total seriousness......and I quote "man, why don't ya'll build chevy's, hell with having to keep rebuilding a motor again and again", I really didn't even know how to begin to reply.

Chevys aren't anymore bulletproof, they have their own issues.

And I'm not being a smart ass, I haven't seen a good roller block anywhere in Ar. for less than $250

Yes I know but the fact that he "really" thinks it's a Ford issue that's why I didn't even know how to begin to explain it to him

Craigslist or other car forums. I have two spare roller cam blocks in my shed that I picked from guys on this forum:
    http://forums.corral.net/forums/windsor-engine-parts/
Paid $20 for one and $50 for the other. Both in good shape and had only .001" wear in the cylinders. I had to drive about 1 1/2 hours to pick up each one but it was worth it. Two years ago I bought a new, never used or even assembled, roller block off Craigslist for $100. Flipped it for $300. Deals are out there.

Where's the video of those burns outs your son was doing, that would be my first guess to what killed the engine, if you beat the hell outta something, something's gotta give. Your not the first one, and you won't be the last. Sell the car, and get what you can, or deal with stuff breaking. It's a 40+ year old car.

Firstly it was me doing the burn out, second it had nothing to do with it breaking as I said I had been doing some work on the car and it did it right as I started it, third it's not a 40+ year old motor, it was an 87 block freshly built, fourth since my son looks on here occasionally I removed it due to where I saw potential comments possibly coming that I didn't care for him to be bothered by and lastly I am dealing with it, dealing with it in my way. Also if doing a burn out is gonna kill an engine then there would be alot of dead engines.....................finally I really don't know why you even posted that remark, if this thread is bothering you in some way there is an "ignore" function you can use...deal with it!

It doesn't bother me, I'm exercising my right of free speech, and this is a discussion forum. You ask questions, and people respond. I don't use the "ignore" feature, I don't let things bother me.
