Hi guys need help identifying some things and what they do. . Air box that does what exactly. Will defrost work without this? left 2 hoses right 2 hoses. middle thing that looks like a vent cover. There is 2 defrost vents one on either side. P. O. Has a speaker under center thing?
looks like a aftermarket a/c unit to me. hoses to the left are your heater core, hoses to the right are a/c.
Weird place to put a speaker from the factory what was ford thinking. That company does the funniest things sometime. Are we sure the ac is aftermarket?
Probably EVERY manufacture before the '80s had single speaker in the dash, many just had AM radio till late '70s... For some models(mostly trucks) AM/FM was optional through the '80s... A friend ordered a new F-150 in '85, only opted for the AM radio... AC is most certainly aftermarket, evaporator was lower and to the right of heater hoses on the factory installs...
The hoses out of the firewall are going to have to be custom made. Need a special crimper for the ends. Big one goes to the compressor, little one comes from the drier. Ones on left side are heater hoses.
I want to get rid of the ac what all do I need to do to get it done right? Pull ac box, pull hoses closest to driverside from firewall... anything I am overlooking? Did not know that about the speaker, nowadays they are just in the doors, rear panels and behind the rear seats that I know of.
If you bought the stereo tape(AM with 8-Track), Mustang had door speakers in '67, with AM-FM Stereo hitting the option list in '68 those also used door speakers, still dual rear deck speakers were optional... Still vehicles had provisions for a single speaker in the center of dash, with only a AM radio and no speaker upgrade, that's what was supplied... My CJ Fairlane came with AM radio and speaker in center if dash, but did also have the rear speaker option that supplied dual 6"x9" in the rear deck... You Mav will have similar openings...
Yeah mine had the one in the dash one hole in front of each door that I assume are for speakers and holes for two 6x9 in the rear deck.
