:burnout:Hi everyone. My name is Chuck. I'm new to this. I bought a 1976 Maverick and fixing to bring it home. I was wondering what kind of frame does a 76 have. Does it have a uniframe? Can you put a 350 chevy motor or a 700R4 or a 400 transmission in one? Any help would be appreciated.

You cant put that in. First off all because of moral reasons, and second off all it wont fit. The maverick is a unibody car, it has a front subframe and a rear seperate one with the body tying them together.

Its a unibody car...You can put an sbc in em but, if your going to go that route put an LS series engine it. AOD's fit in em so I would think a 700 r4 would fit no propblem.
Hope you know or are a good fabricator...You wont just bolt in an SBC.

you can do some cutting and some chopping and make the "C-word" motor fit along with the tranny but you won't get much help around here because #1 we don't have knowledge of doing such volgar things to a Ford and #2 I think there is only one other member that has done that and we harrass that person relentlessly or every chance we get which ever is more. LOL J/K (mostly):hmmm::naughty: :( :tsk: :badwords:

 Chevy Motor in a Maverick... Jeez what's wrong with people these days??? cus cuss.... mumble mumble... kicks rocks.... why would anyo....I just don't underst....man oh man some people!!!

:Welcome: I would put in an LSx with "Powered By Ford" on the valve covers. But yeah, for a lot less money you can build a Windsor or a Windsor stroker that runs just as well and is easier to install.

guys drop 351w in there without too much problem. And they can be bored/stroked easily to 393, and even more with a little more work. Like 408 or so.

That is a LOT of motor for a 2900 lb car.

Enjoy, and post pics and vids along the way, please!

A 302 will fit right in and can be stroked to 347. You can go as fast as your wallet will let you. I have a 302 in mine and run high 11's low 12's with it. It is a track only car though.:)
