Is this an auto or manual shifter were talking about?

The photo is for an early Mustang. The 69-70 bezels were wider at the front and tapered in toward the back. The one you want is the 69-70 like dmhines stated.

Does anyone know, if the earlier style will fit on the Maverick floor (cast part) plate?

The Mav bezel AND shifter base is wider than the Pinto shifter assembly. If that Pinto bezel bolts to the base in the 75, odds are it was swapped in. I am running a Pinto shifter in my car, so you can make it work, but both pieces are narrower.

I pulled the shifter out of my old 75 and it had the thin chrome handled shifter with the black plastic bezel, i pulled the bezel i have now out of a 71 pinto because the bezel looked exactly the same as plastic one i had, the difference is that its chrome and black

Yup .... Pinto shifter there. The bigger bezel won't fit it. The chrome bezel looks good from the picture.

Thanks i repainted the black area with satin black and used fine steel wool on the chrome and it came out really good,
