Why do some of you store your car for the winter vs keep on driving them? in the winter I still drive mine same as the summer as long as the weather is good and the roads are dry. Just curious.
There's winter in GA???? In 50+ years of owning vehicles I've never officially stored anything. Not to say a few times something didn't set for a year or more, just wasn't stored.
Here in Indiana where I was born & raised the incompetent drivers cannot function without salt on the streets and it takes awhile for the rain to wash it off. Our '79 Trans Am was a daily driver until '86. We had to replace both front fenders, repair the quarter panels in front of the rear wheels and the rear bumper mounting area. Now it's a pleasure cruiser (in fact I just came back from checking on the progress of my Maverick) and part time show car. Bruce
They don't call us the "rust belt" for nothing. Here in the great white north - our car season is about 6 months long.
Lol yes we have winter in ga and it’s really bad at times. So it seems most answers are because of road salt. I get it now.
What others said about the salt belt. Dad's 1985 Chevy pickup was taken back to primo shape when it started to develop rust over the rear wheel arches at about 15 years old in Iowa. Lucky it lasted that long, but the work was done professionally and correctly. It's always been a work truck, not a show truck. Now it's swiss cheese again. Front fender tails flapping in the breeze, cab corners rotted away, door bottoms ventilated...it's everywhere. I've even seen coil springs rust deep enough to snap and puncture tires.
here in our part of Ga. (middle) they just salt the bridges. that's bad enough when snow/ice melts to mess up a vehicle. ......
In this part of the world, once the rain starts it seems like the road doesnt dry off for 5 months. I would have to buy new wiper blades.............................................................................................................................................................
