I may be wrong, I didn't see it fast it enough, but my son swears there was a Maverick (1976 or 1977) in the opening scene of the new X-men movie.

Its the scene where Charles Xavier & Eric(Magneto) interview Jean Grey in 1976 for the school for "Gifted" mutants.

    Anybody else see that yet?

Would be cool if one of the characters in the new Pixar Cars movie was a Maverick ... could have a Texan Cowboy personality ... :)

    Cool Movie

Another person states the car parked on the street outside of Jean Grey's house was a Maverick. She lifts up all the parked cars on the street.:yikes: With her telepathic Powers:D

    X-Men Never Die

Then you know that they aren't truely gone. :D This movie's story line as the last one's "ending" is based loosely on the X-Men story line from circa issue #96 thru #136 which was the mid 70's when I was reading them.(y)

The problem with these kind of movies, is that there is way too much information for them to cover in a 90 to 110 min time period.

The biggest area of fault in the movie is getting Jean/Pheonix involved with Magneto, as that never happened in the comics, Jean was never a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. She was always a good guy.

Actually she did take a bad turn in the "dark Phoenix" storyline when she was the black queen of the hellfire club.

Yeah, true. But, even in that storyline she was a quasi-good guy.

The rise of the Dark Pheonix is an awesome story.

She was never part of the Brotherhood though.

Saw it tonight. Got to agree they did take a healthy amount of liberty with the whole artistic license sort of thing. All in all though we really enjoyed it.
