    I pulled a clutch/brake pedal setup out of a '71 6cyl. car today. I didn't
get the Z-bar. If I do a manual swap to the '69.5 I will likely swap it to
a V8 so I didn't think it would be any good to me.

They aren't the same are they?

Well, they are different, but you can alter the 6 cylinder part and use it. I never liked the 2-piece V8 setups anyway. I use an early Mustang z-bar and 6 cylinder Maverick brackets in mine.

How did you ever get a one-piece in with headers? I didn't think that would be possible going by the problems I had just installing my two-piece one.

No problem, it twists right into place from the top. Originally took some playing around to figure out how to do it. Now it's easy. There's a certain way to orient it to get it started between the header tubes and the steering box, but it goes right in. I do have leave the frame bracket unbolted at first then install that after the z-bar is on the block ball stud.

what you have will work. all you need is a 64.5 to 1973 mustang Z bar ( repro)
and machine it. basically, shortening it the correct amount on either side. this website has those schematics somewhere in it's archives.

I have a 66 Mustang z-bar in mine, but when I looked at different z-bars at CJ Ponyparts it looked like a 1970 piece would fit better.
