Is it just me, or does it look like the transmission is "twisted" and the tranny cross member has been cut/welded to contribute to this "twist"? The reason there are so many washers behind your wiper switch is because you are missing a bracket back there.
I went back and looked at the pictures and I agree something does not look right with transmission. It does look like crossmember has been modified to correct something that is out of spec.
Here's a tech article on this mod (in case you missed it). http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=25914
the second pic is a camaro t5 in a datsun. the angle looks right but the tail shaft housing has torque arm mounting bosses on it that the one it braess does not.
ok, that is good to know. im more or less happy with the height now, just its posistion and clearance needs to improve... im trying to bend it a little the swiss way...
yes, the crossmember was adjusted by the shop. maybe you remember previous post, where i showed how the engine was in with wrong motor mounts and twisted. so the t5 was twisted at the beginning as well. then they adjusted it a little, but still with the wrong mounts. i am now with the right mounts and will adjust the right pinion angle where the engine will stay. so ill need to adjust the crossmember to be perfect to that. but it will always hav an angle as the suport of the T5 is at an angle, even if the shifter is perfectly straight up. check this image as example, in mine its not as visble. (c) http://www.schwallers.com/images/T5Swap7.jpg my T5 is just like that, even if its straight in. (its a 96 T5 out of a v6 mustang)
thanks for this hint, do you have a pic or explosion view of the assembly? i thought its because the wiper and light switch are in swaped locations, so the had to adapt it... well another piece i need to look for... :16suspect
yes, thats what i have seen, also one on 1bad6t.com... but i have a diffrent export brace, the stronger one which is not flat where it attaches to the fire wall. i did not pay attention to this when buying it, but now it is a problem because the mustang bolts it from top and maverick from underneath to the firewall... so its inverse there... so ill need to fabricate a braket or something to make it flat there first... https://blog.cjponyparts.com/2012/12/export-braces-standard-vs-premium-for-your-1965-1970-mustang/
My export brace was also curled on the ends where it attaches to the fire wall. This is where a 3 lb sledge hammer comes in handy. You will need to weld up the holes on the brace and drill new ones to match the location drilled on the firewall.
ok, thats good to know... ill take it with me to work and use the big press... lets see if a few tons will make it how i need it :deadhorse
