    I would take it back Jeff. They will replace it no questions asked or give the $ back. The sad thing is that probably a reasonably priced floor jack from Summit is most likely made in the same factory as a Harbor Freight jack. I know this happens because I imported from overseas as a business for 14 years until I retired.

    Mel, The trouble is making another trip back to the store to make things right. HF is 20 miles from my house or 40 miles round trip...wasn't worth the time and gas for a $3.00 tool. Anyway one drop of Crazy Glue got me back in business

    You had better start looking at labels of everything that you buy then and get used to going without.

    My floor-jack is made in USA.

    I am aware that a bajillion things are made in China, but anything I'm trusting my life & safety to will not be made in China.

    I prefer Made in the good old USA too, but sadly my point is that almost everything is made overseas now. Even most of the things that we assume are made here.

    not only...jackstands...Harold had a 4 post lift blow a cyl. and when it fell his roll around tool box that was under the lift, held up one side causing the 65 Mustang vert to slide off on it's side...this was a commercial lift... :yup:

    I had a part once that had...made in U.S.A...on the box. at closer inspection I noticed it said...box made in U.S.A....:yup:

    A trick now is for the selling companies to put "Designed in the USA" or "Engineered in the USA" or something similar so people will read over it.

    Glad you had sense to use a stand. jacks use stands and hoists have locks. Never leave a hoist between locks. Always drop it onto the lock. Unless you dont mind being a few inches shorter.

    ...and make sure weight is on all four corners...I was letting it down when I saw it...:yikes:

    must have been the frame connectors that saved it...:yup:

    Bingo! Went to Summit today. Both the Summit branded steel and aluminum jacks are "Made in China".

    Tough to find anything not made in China these days - some of the HF hand tools, I'll trust for lighter use but won't be surprised if it fails - I had a 1/4 inch drive ratchet break putting the first socket on it - it took a trip down the driveway

    Be careful buying anything with "moving parts" from harbor freight. I bought a 4" angle grinder just to keep at our summer place. The bearing desintegrated in less than a minute the first time I used it. Some stuff is ok to buy from there. Just remember, you get what you pay for.
