Speedometer gear

    I put 355 gears with a 3 speed transmission, How many teeth does the speedometer gear need to be?

    Don't know. I don't have the rear end anymore. Had to scrap it

    Each tooth added to gear will decrease reading at 60mph by approx 3 to 3.5 mph... By same token each one removed will increase reading by same... Because of the 255 tires I had to switch from orig 20 to a 18T gear to correct reading in my Comet...

    Drive gear on output shaft, tire size & axle ratio are all variables on this rule of thumb...
