Began the cleaning process on the bottom of the car, what a PITA! The oscillating tool works pretty darn good then I can follow up with the 4" grinder with a wire brush. Even with power tools it sucks! I may roll it outside to use the sand blaster on the hard to reach spots.

Well, this isn't so much something I did to my Comet, but something I did for my Comet, okay, actually for me to make it easier to work on the Comet. They just opened a new Harbor Freight store here and I got this welding cart for less than $50.00.

No more lugging the welder and bottle around the garage!

I joined this forum over 2 years ago with my 72 Maverick project, and today I can say I am finally done (with a lot of help from everyone on the forum)! Yes there is lot's more that can be done, but this car is finally formally ready for the road and shows. Everything else can wait. I just hope I don't get into the engine like many on this forum or I will never retire. It's also a friend to my 51 ford pickup (colors don't go well, but it works.). This finishes the auto restoration for my lifetime!

That is a beautiful Maverick! I bet it feels good to be done.......but if you park a white car between those two, all three would look nice.:p

Finally got the replacement radiator installed. In case anyone's wondering, if you've got the double V belt pulley system, you're gonna have one hell of a time trying to install any kind of fan. The champion EC339 radiator went in, but the shroud was too much - any fan bolted to it couldn't clear the water pump pulley. I had to remove the shroud and get a skinny fan from Summit and fashion a crude mount with some metal strips and ties. Not too pleased with that ordeal, but at least she runs.

Next I'll have to fix the exhaust leak. Hopefully it's just the gasket, because it seems more or less impossible to find a header that'll fit a 250 with AC and PS. Without altering the mounting brackets, at least.

For the first time since I have owned my Grabber, it now has a horn. They are a set of high and low pitch I bought from NPD $31 bucks.

Replaced the plugs, rotor, cap, wires, coil. Now no spark. Put old parts back on and still no dice. Time to grab the test light and go fishing.

Got in it and fired it up. Haven't ran in two weeks so I went for a drive and barely missed a deer... Now time to build a fan shroud for it.

While working on routing some steel trans cooling lines, I found this tag on a coil spring (yes, I had to briefly consider running the line through the shock tower). Factory or aftermarket? Anyone know? WP_20160523_18_37_48_Pro.jpg
