Yep ! Understand .. The last four cars we've done we put all new wiring Under the Dash, Under the Hood , and from Front to Rear .. New fuse boxes , relays , sensors and safety items like a Red Light that will appear if there is a problem with Overheating , or Low Oil Pressure etc. I also installed ' override ' switches on the dash that if ever required I can activate the fans which will provide cooling while the car is " sitting " and not running. I've never had to do this but it's there if I need to . I'am a fan of the Hot Rod POWER TOURS and on almost ALL of the tours I've attended there were Looooooong periods of time when the car was idling ' in line ' to enter the venue locations. So far none of the cars we've prepped have had an overheating problem and that's with our AC running . We put Pusher AND Puller Fans and it seems to help greatly. Looking forward to seeing your ' completed ' Comet at the NPD event in Ocala.FL. I'm sure it will look even better than your pics. Cometized (Chip)
That's great news .. Looking forward to seeing you there . We should have Kim's Maverick finished by then so we'll have two Mavericks and one Comet this show. I hope we have good weather for the event..I understand that it's been changed to be ONE DAY ONLY ( Saturday) ..It previously was Two Days Saturday AND Sunday and if anyone WON a trophy on Saturday if they weren't PRESENT on Sunday .. the trophy went to the guy UNDER them, and if THEY weren't there it was handed ' down ' until someone was actually THERE at the presentation. I won twice in the past and didn't receive the trophy because I didn't attend Sunday .. Bummer ! .. Anyway It's a Great Show and I always enjoy checking out the other fine Mavericks and Comets along with the OTHER Fords .. See ya then hopefully, Cometized (Chip)
Hi Frank: Read your post about keeping the Taillights .. I don't know if you seen the post earlier on SEQUENTIAL LED Taillights for a COMET that are now available. I have a set on my Comet and they are great . The taillights were a real ' Hit ' on the last Power Tour I made. The people that have these are EASY PERFORMANCE in Wyoming , Michigan .The guy to talk to is " Jim " and their phone number is 616-214-7880 if you're interested. Cometized (Chip)
After a good and needed shop cleaning this morning, I got a new Monte Carlo bar made..... There wasn't a lot of room to get through between the throttle body and the hood, It's a got at least 1/4" of clearance over the throttle body and almost 1/8" to the hood..... I also gave the car a good wipe down, it was getting quite dirty.....
That looks tight. Love what you are doing. I really like the fact the shock towers still look stock . I think you are doing a top notch job on your Comet. Thanks for sharing your build Tommy
I made so brackets to hang off the Monte Carlo bar to mount my breather cans for the motor..... I also got a ethanol sensor this week, I think I know how/where I want to mount it but I need to get a couple fittings this wee to make sure it will work out..... I am also trying to figure out how/where to mount a water/meth tank..... Here's the brackets on the Monte Carlo bar and the ethanol sensor I got(it the one Holley recommends in there V4 software.....
Hey frank, I was on theturboforum, noticed you had a build for your old grabber. You don't happen to have a photo album of that car do you? I was trying to look back at the turbo set up you ran for inspiration. Thank you.
Sorry but I no longer have any photos for that build, I removed them from photobucket and shortly after that I had a computer burp the lost all my photos..... I was lucky I had this build backed up on a separate drive.....
I got the fittings I need this week for the ethanol senor..... Today I mounted and plumbed everything back up..... I do not have a good place to mount a decent size water/methanol tank under the hood, so I decided to go with a trunk mounted tank..... I had to remove the rear seat again to I can routed the hose and necessary wires for the pump and level indicator..... I also went through my wiring stuff to see what I need to get coming, getting closer to wiring it..... Here is the ethanol sensor mounted.....
Last Sunday I got the wires and tube for the water/methanol ran and put the rear seat area back together...... I got the 2.5 gallon water/methanol tank this week, unfortunately the area of the trunk that I have to mount the tank is not flat so I figured out how to make a mounting bracket for it(I will get it made this week)..... I am still waiting to get the Monte Carlo bar and other stuff back from powder coat, so I couldn't button that stuff up yet..... I did however start planning out my wiring harness..... I got a harness made and in place for the overhead switch panel(still need to configure the under dash end of this herness, I also put the 4 gauges in the center of the dash..... Here's some pic's of the gauges mounted and the switch panel wiring.....
Looks awesome hope you can put a video of it running when you are finished. I really love what you did with the shock towers. That was a great idea. I love the stock look but yet enough room for everything. Keep up the awesome work
I got some mounting brackets fabed up this week for the water/methanol bottle and pump..... I had to do a little tweaking on the bottle mount, but I got them both mocked up in the car and I am pretty happy with them..... They still have to be painted before getting installed..... I also made a harness for the trans, got connectors on everything underneath and hook it all up..... The harness routes through the old speedo cable grommet and up through the instrument cluster hole..... I still need to connect everything under the dash..... That will come soon enough, I am just trying to get the harness legs made up and in place..... Here's some pic's of the progress.....
