Anyone know if these fit our shock towers? https://www.cjponyparts.com/scott-drake-shock-tower-top-billet-pair-1967-1970/p/STT106/
I would say that they will fit but there would be a height difference on shock mounting , probably not enough to matter though. Lot prettier than stock shock towers I have a 64 Falcon and had three different towers for it all factory--- 64 Falcon, 66 Mustang and Maverick all three fit the bolt pattern just height differences of less than an inch
Good deal thanks for the quick reply. They sure look nicer especially if sticking with the shock towers.
I never measured the Maverick cap...but the '69 Mustang cap is 1-3/4" tall. Mike, I notice the 60 Falcon cap is different height than the 64 Falcon also.
I should have said just go to the Just ask Jeff section on the forum. LOL I did not mean to give mis information just wanted to point out that the bolt pattern is the same
Eyeball test... the height of mine appear to be closest to the ‘60 Falcon. These would be .6875” shorter, but with my shock tower braces, would put it close to stock. https://www.streetortrack.com/1965-66-Mustang-Billet-Shock-Tower-Caps-pr-24611.html
The only concern is if you have cut down/shorter coil springs (see pictures), where the shock may bottom out or over extend, then the height of the shock mounting cap can make a difference, either adding spacer between shock and cap. Ideally at rest, the shock should be ~ 1/2 extended, so equal travel on extension or compression........ David
In your opinion would it be an issue with adjustable coilover conversion, Viking or Varishock that utilizes factory style LCA?
Contact Kyle x72COMETx, he has Viking adjustable coil overs, ask him to post picture of his shock caps, (think he just used the original caps with the Viking system), might give you a better idea of what his looks like and if any "issues"........ David
Not the best picture (will get some better ones tomorrow) but you can get an idea of how the Vikings look with stock upper mounts. I am actually interested in picking up a set of this billet mounts as well
It's so frustrating that most aftermarket parts, even the aluminum stuff, are heavier than the original steel pieces they replace. Oh well, I guess all the power in the world is useless if these cars are twisting and pretzeling on the road or track while you're trying to lay it all down.
To be honest, even though the aluminum peices are thicker and have more material to them, they are actually lighter then the originals
