Hi all, first work is done. car is stripped and the ordered spare parts are delivered. So the sheet metal work is done , it was a lot of welding work to do – o.k. it´s an 44 Years old car but sometimes I wonder on which places I found the holes ;-). After this work was done I work to change the Drum brakes to power disc brakes. My 1st step was the change of the brake pedal incl. the bracket, 2nd step was an new power brake main cylinder, 3rd step is now under work – I ordered a wildwood brake kit (only front brakes ) for the Maverick, looks easy to install – let´s see if it works really so simple ;-)
Well its not the worst rust we have seen but the rust in the cowl and A pillar will be fun to deal with. Too bad you are in Germany getting replacement metal will be harder to get hopefully tody can help out but you will probably be forced to make your own patches
Yep, would be easier with replacement sheets, but we create our own patches, the pic from the b-pillar shows a part of the welded buttom driver back side. I use zinc plated sheets with a thickness from 0,06 inch
I work now on the front suspension and the front brakes. Lower and upper control arm is changed, also an upgrade from drum – to wilwood disc brakes. Shock absorbers are also changed
So time is running fast when you work on an old car, most of the technical issues are fixed and the paint job is done. I work now on the upholstery and the details to bring the Maveric back to the road.
Thanks, the panels are "home made" it´s vinyl and wood. Armrest is an refurbished one from an old Mustang. Next challenge is to install the headliner - no experience with this kind of work.
