    found a situation...
the EFI get's switched on power from... factory e-choke wire. now this wire still has power when key is switched off. been hooked up this way from start and has worked fine until now. any ideas why this would start happening?

Do you still have the actual switch down low on the steering column that the key operates ? What color is the wire you have the EFI hooked up to ? I was looking at the wiring diagrams that Jeff has provided and it does not show choke wire on a 73 but does for a 74 and I have pretty much traced it back to the ignition switch so it makes me wonder is the switch is out of adjustment a tad. Or somehow it is getting back fed from elsewhere ?

I thought of the adjustment thing so I checked . it goes to...on...start...back to on...then to off...acc.
its a blk. wire that comes out of the plug with the two vac. lines in the firewall. it may not be E-choke wire but it was a switched on 12v.

Just for grins, that wire that is hot still when switched off..... after it is switched off, go and turn off your kill switch and turn it back on. then check the wire again.

Do you have anything powered by the I terminal on the starter solenoid, or is that part decommissioned on your car? It would be powered in the start position, and possibly never turns off? (until the power is cut by the kill switch) I dont know the inner workings of that part to know if it is possible to malfunction in that manner. Or is there a different relay that gets power in the start position that never cuts out when the key goes to run?

this comes from a...switched on hot from the fuse panel.
I'm going to try and trace that wire back today and see what's up wid it.

    thanks for your suggestions

    "feel irritated or resentful.
"she was piqued by his curtness"
synonyms: irritate, annoy, bother, vex, provoke, displease, upset, offend, affront, anger, exasperate, infuriate, gall, irk, get someone's back up, disgruntle, nettle, needle, ruffle, get on someone's nerves, ruffle someone's feathers, make someone's hackles rise, rub up the wrong way"

not what I meant at all... just "takes my interest to the highest level ".

I apologize Frank, I should not be critiquing anyone's writing on this website. It doesn't promote great community.

Well, I find your situation interesting Frank....but if it was my situation I think it would border on irritation! Lol...I am out of ideas except if a device downstream from your switch contains relays and is no longer grounded, it will continue to seek ground through other means? Good luck finding the problem, I hope it has a simple solution.
