So I’ve got a lead on a maverick 5 lug rear Two leads actually Well I’m looking to install it on my girlfriends newly purchased 66 A code mustang I figured I would check around here for any advise before making a purchase .. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
I believe the Maverick rear is narrower than Mustang. The '66 A code Mustang should already have a 8", five lug rear.
Might want to look for a Granada/Monarch/Versailles rear too. I think they're the same widths. Spring perches are the same.
The Mav/Comet rear end is approx. 3/4" narrower (3/8" per side) than the 66 Mustang, as mentioned, same spring perch width, so will bolt in. The only thing you may have to watch out for, axle tube on Mav/Comet is larger than what came originally on the 66 Mustang, so if you still have the original Mustang lower spring plates, you may have to elongate the holes. What year is the Maverick rear end you have a lead on? Also, the Mav/Comet lower spring plates are different than on the 66 Mustang, so hopefully you still have them. If not, I do have correct set of lower spring plates for your GF's 66 Mustang........ David
So good news Got the rear end it’s out of a 73 Grabber v8 car . I do still have the 66 lower spring plates They gave us the u bolts as well. I also will update with the goodies I got for my 70 Mav as well
I did hear that someone said 67 Mustang spring mounts might work I’ll see if I can get some pics of the stang an upload them on this page I’m Still annoyed I missed out on a good deal on a 72 comet gt With a 302 I would have liked that better than the stang haha
