Effie asked what I wanted for my birthday...this is what we are going to Summit Sat. to get me. FiTech Ultimate LS EFI 500 HP Fuel Injection Systems 70001 I Love Her Berry Berry much!!!!!
Well you made it to another year and at least your safe from the plaque that haunts your car. Happy Birthday Frank and hopefully many more
after pulling the system from the box and assembling it.... I found one thing I could not live with...the wiring harness. the pictures showed only a small harness but when I pulled it from the box... here is a pic of before and after...zoom in. the advertisement pic was about 4 feet long and the size of your finger. the one I pulled from the box was up to 8 feet long and big around as your wrist... sticking with my MSD Atomic. maybe the ghost swapped them...LOL
Oh my.....There is more wire there than in my whole car......and I already know that wires are lonely critters in your engine bay....at least visible wires.
thanks... at the left in the pic there is an 8 fuse 2 relay panel. the wires stick out the back side about 2.5 ". there is no way to get the block close enough to a surface to mount it. I may call FiTech Tuesday and see if I can eliminate it... I think the fuses and relays I have protecting the Atomic EFI , fuel pump and fans will be enough to run their system. the intake and throttle body were a compact setup, it's only 7" tall. that and the injectors tucked in nice to the sides, that part would have looked sweet on my engine...
Frank, have you outgrown the MSD system? That intake is really slick looking! I like that you can support up to 750 hp with just a throttle body and injector swap, assuming the rest of your fuel system can handle it. I would think you could mount that fuse/relay box with two stand-off spacers and long fasteners to give you enough clearance for the wiring? I was looked at a similar setup for 351w package I’m planning to run. Throttle body mounting is similar with a low profile distributer. The manifold on your system is much more compact. By my measurements it wouldn’t fit under the oem grabber hood, and that is a hard requirement for me.
"Frank, have you outgrown the MSD system? " not "outgrown", just changing up something...LOL "By my measurements it wouldn’t fit under the oem grabber hood, and that is a hard requirement for me." on my Ls the Atomic is 2.5" taller. and I'm running a stock Grabber hood. that was a hard requirement for me also. that's why I went with the Atomic EFI to start with. with a carb I had to scoop a stock flat hood or run a cowl induction hood. this is part of my hood collection... stock Grabber hood scooped stock flat hood carbon fiber Grabber hood Jimmy2gates fiberglass induction Grabber hood 2 more...the yellow original paint Grabber hood was given to me...
