I just read on some other posts that the wire itself has a resistance built into it. So it sounds like the entire length of that wire would need bypassed??
I would install spark plug wires repair the frayed wire at coil, leave the DSII system alone, replace rotor and cap. I been running the DSII for 10 yrs and 20K miles w/o issue. I gap plugs around .45. I can see the rotor is in need of attention/replacing. I carry a spare DS module on road trips and have never need to remove from box. It's a reliable system for a car not needing regular high rpm/racing ignition.

I'm not sure/familiar w/ the coil in question and if it's compatible w/ the DS systems. They may/probably need full 12volts to function properly whereas Ford uses resistance wire in system lowering voltage approx. 8 volts or so. I would check w/ Flamethrower mfg to be sure.
Coil is mostly a matter of choice though unless you have a Hi-Po engine, I doubt you'll notice any improvement over stock Duraspark coil(maybe if it were failing). I have no idea how low of resistance HP coil the DS will tolerate. Assuming the Duraspark is original to car it's no doubt a DS-I. I believe '74 Calif models were the first use of system.
Good note... DS-I used 'Points" type/same distributor cap and wires, DS-II uses the bigger 'Grey/Blue" cap with Pin connectors and different wires. 250 with DS-I with GM HEI trigger - 250 with DS II and HEI Ignition Module (programmable RPM limiting - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pnx-d72000 ) have fun
wow thats impressive! I would like to get some more performance out of my 250 since I really want to keep things orignial but don't know where to start.
