The dimmer switch is the headlight switch. There’s a button on the bottom of the switch. Hold that button in and it will allow you to pull out the headlight knob and shaft. Then you can use a large Phillips screwdriver to remove the headlight switch bezel. Disconnect the switch from the plug and pull it out through the cluster opening.

Are these the ones you are talking about? I already have LEDs but they aren’t dimmable.

If it still has the factory radio plug, short the two terminals on connector together. Dash lights should be on any time ign is on. If it blows radio fuse, there is a problem in wiring. If lights are still inoperative, likely the connector on back of cluster has a issue.

My Comet has been using this connection for last couple years. Damned if I'm taking it apart to repl switch, I could care less if dash light aren't dimmable.

The DIMMER in the headlamp switch is most likely suspect & yes with a bit of finagling, it can be replaced. Down side is a parts switch with good dimmer is required. I fixed the switch in a friend's '72 Bronco which is same as Mav.

The headlight dimmer on floor has nothing to do with issue.

The cluster has to be removed to get the dimmer switch out right? If so how do you detach the speedo cable unhooked from the rear of the cluster? I played with it some today, could not remove, that being said I'm not sure how to remove it. Thank you everybody. Also, is there a fuse for the dash lights? I replaced all my bulbs today. still no speedo light

there is a plastic cup on the end of the cable. it has two ears that hold it onto the speedometer head. most likely the ears will break off .

Yes the shortest fuse in box is for dash lights.

Hey everyone, when you remove the speedo cable from underneath mine was attached to the floor with a p clamp and a metal clip, fastener of some sort, needless to say it's rusted. does anyone know if you can buy those new? Thank you
