My friend found this on Facebook and brought it to my attention. I thought I would share it with you all. All credit for this go’ to Lonnie Schulz. So you want to put a T-5 in your Maverick/Comet but your car is a automatic. Well I’m going to show you how to make a cable operated clutch work without all the expense. I did this in 1994 to my car but I never took step by step pictures. But since my son wanted a manual I now can show you how easy it is. Step 1. You’ll need a fox body mustang pedal box and your pedal box. Step 2. remove clutch pedal out of mustang box. Step 3. Remove cross tube out of mustang pedal box Step 4. Drill a 13/16 hole in your pedal box near the lower lip and forward of the break pedal. Step 5. Install cross tube. But don’t weld it yet. Step 6. I removed the pin holding the break pedal on the maverick box and installed it backwards. This eliminated the chance of the quadrant hitting the clip. You want the quadrant as close to the pedal box so it won’t hit the wiper motor. Step 7. Tack cross tube in. Step 8. I’ll be doing this conversion to my Comet automatic pedal assembly in the spring, even though I have a Comet/Maverick manual pedal assembly. I’ll add to this thread when I do my conversion.
if you use your manual pedal assembly the fox rod slides right in and if you cut the rod down around an inch have it re threaded, cut 1 inch off the top of the fox clutch pedal weld that 1 inch to the top of you maverick pedal after removing the mav pedal rod you will be able to use the factory mav pedal and your spacing will be perfect i have both assemblies after putting all that together i have realized mustang steve set up is the better way if you have maverick assembly already. mustang steve is cutting a quadrant down 1/4 inch for me than welding it so theres no clearance issues so for 300 dollars i have a guaranteed working properly set up.

Hmmm, I have a T5 in my car and I just used an old bell housing with a T5 adapter plate and early Mustang clutch linkage. No cables, quadrants, or welding.
That would be a great option! I plan on going hydraulic, I have a newer block without provisions for the ball and a Lakewood bell housing so might just as well take the hard way!
We located & drilled the hole for the engine side pivot ball in the late model block of the crate engine I bought. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures. Bruce
I have a Lakewood bell and newer block, too. They make a bracket that bolts to the bell to mount a pivot ball to. Most Mustang supply houses sell them. I have heard of folks making their own out of angle iron.
All of my stuff is Fox body so I would have to do a lot of tweaking to make the stock linkage work. Add to that I only have pedals and nothing else!
I tried the clutch ball bracket that bolts to the bell housing location but it interfered with the Hooker headers I am using. So I measured the pivot hole location on the stock '72 302 block very carefully, located it on the side of the later model roller cam block and drilled away, ensuring that I was perpendicular to the block front to back & up & down. After I tapped the hole we bolted the ball on. I'm using a fabricated z-bar from one of the members here which is an exact duplicate of the original. Bruce
I have Hooker 6901's. No interference with the ball stud bracket but I am using early Mustang linkage which is different than Maverick linkage (smaller diameter ball and shaft).
I know this is an older thread, but does anyone know if this conversion would work on the '75 Power Brake set up, or would I have to convert to a Manual brake pedal support and go with the small booster conversion to keep power brakes. The angles of the brake rods come out at a different angle on the PB mavs.
I have not heard of anyone doing this with power brakes, I have all the parts to convert my car to power brakes but not sure if this conversion will work. Planning on finally installing the motor & trans this summer and may investigate then.
When you get to it, take some pics if you can and give us an update. I'm about a year from pulling the car apart to do paint now that I have most of the mechanical working well. That would be my dream upgrade at that time. If not, then I'll plant the AOD in.
