His is an Export Brace and does not have a Monte Carlo Bar, which is tied in front of the shock towers, like member Shorty (Bruce) in post #29 David
When I made my bar the idea was to try and incorporate both types of bars into one solid, welded piece with only straight bars. The cross piece effectively makes the long bars shorter and stronger, and they're attached to the shock towers. They won't allow movement in any direction. (I can't for the life of me figure out why they make bars with spherical rod ends that are only solid parallel to the bar and rotate in every other direction.) The suspension loads and engine weight are carried by the shock towers into (mostly) the lower frame rails and finally into the cowl. That was the reason for the belly bar. Most of the Monte Carlo bars I see just screw into the sheet metal in front of the shock tower. Obviously they work better than no bar but...
Looks and works great, only issue is getting at that rear carb bowl. Moved back just a hair would make it perfect.
They're easy to install, because chassis that have flexed over the decades can still adjust the assembly so it attaches in all the right places...which would lock the car into an out of shape condition if they had enough stiffness to make much of a difference.
Yes, they have nice Export Brace (shock towers to firewall), similar design to what Shelby used in his 65-70 Mustangs........but like everything else, I believe they are on back order......... David
