I ran across one on Youtube recently which had a Nissan 240sx clutch pedal, master, and slave cylinder.

Hello, what did you end up using for a driveline? Getting ready to put a tkx in my 73, thanks.

The Tremec transmissions for Fords use the same 28 spline slip yoke across the board. C4, AOD, T5 and the Ford Tremec 3550 all use the same thing, so i just used the stock C4 driveshaft i had in it. No cutting or anything involved. Dimensionwise the transmissions are similar. The C4 AOD swap is pretty common and alot of people dont have to change their driveshafts, the dimensions for those are

Overall Length (bellhousing to tailshaft housing end, flat-to-flat):
    AOD - 30 3/4 inch
    C4 - 30 1/4 inch
    TKO - 31 inch
    TKX - 31 inch
    T5 - 31 3/4 inch

Now just so you are aware the 28 spline output shaft is only applicable to the 3550's. Both the TKO and TKX transmissions use a 31 spline output shaft so you will need to change the slip yoke to match the transmission, you should be able to use the rest of the driveshaft or have one custom made.

Thankyou for the info and you appear to be the only one on the internet that has done that in a mav! Which helps me a lot as my tkx is pretty similar to your tko.

I replaced a top loader 4-speed from a '70 Boss 302 with a new Tremec TKO-600 in my Maverick. As Markso125 notes it was a direct swap needing a new yoke on my existing driveshaft and a new clutch to match the TKO input shaft splines. It is an awesome transmission!

Not sure how I missed this thread, did you do much modification to the floor? I ended up raising the tunnel about 1 1/2 inches. I also made my own trans mount loosely based on the one Holley sells for an early Mustang.

Rick, on the factory floor I really opened it up more for the 4-speed installation because of the Hurst Super shifter linkage which is rods welded insides tubes. With the Tremec, as you stated, I had to open up the top of the tunnel. Later I had the car back-halved and new floor was installed from the trunk all the way to the toeboards. The 1st oicture shows my attempt to repair what I had done to the floor to clear the shift linkage while opening up the top for transmission clearance. The 2nd picture shows the new floor as I was putting in Fat Mat.

I think they did a great job on the car and I really enjoy driving it.

That looks great! When I started cutting into mine I cut out ahead of where the shifter would be. Turned out that wasn't enough so I cut back to the rear of the shifter. It's not bad but will look way better when the carpet goes in!

What’s the fitting on upper passenger side of the hump. Nice work on the hump mod.
