This will be an all weather driver. Restomod for sure. I plan on power windows, 4 wheel power disc brakes, 5 speed, cruise control, ac, good stereo, and a few simple body mods. Power is going to be a basically stock 302 with a 4bbl. Not sure if I want to mess with headers or not. Depends on when it comes time to rebuild the engine on how much money is left in the budget.
Yes, I too plan on building one similar for longer cruises and such. Does that just mean we're gettin old???
Time for an update. Last weekend I finished up the trans tunnel. The Cobra R T5 I have hit the top of the tunnel and the upper cross brace so I had to cut it out. I took 1/4" steel and formed a hoop and welded it inside the cross brace. Then cut the flat section out of the top of the tunnel and reformed it with some sheet metal.
This week been working on the rusted out floor section. Cut out the passenger side. Hardest part was cutting out the good floor out of the parts car. It was welded to the rear torque box and spring mount. New section welded in.
It is coming along nicely. Looks awesome Dennis!!!! I have to stop by some time and see it in person.
Wow ... how did I miss this thread for so long? Nice work ... gonna be a sweet car .. even if it is a Comet ...
Dennis, that is awesome work but from you that is just expected. I wanted to ask something about the hole fix on the shock tower. If when you have it aligned they have to move the upper to get camber/caster could that off center your grease fitting to where you could not access it or is the 5/8 hole big enough to allow room? Just wondering before I do the same thing, Thanks.
