Lookin' Good I am working on the floorboards in mine right now and keep looking back at my tubs, thinking about doing this myself. I have 265/50s right now, but 295s would look better.... Did you go in beyond the original frame rail? I want to keep the a stock-appearing interior, so I want to see if the tub can come in a bit and still use the rear quarter panels, etc ...
This sits pretty much flush with the frame rail. In the rear its sits inward about an inch or so this is due to the stock frame rail turning outward in the rear. I will write a tech article in the next few days, that way no one makes the same mistake I did! This should fit a 295 tire fine with a rolled fender lip. I measured from the frame rail to the outer lip on the quarter and its alittle over 13 inches.
18x10 in the rear with a 285-295 tire, 18x8 with a 225 tire in front. I have a few wheels in mind. #1 wheel choice is the Foose Nitrous.
That should look great, I have a set of Foose Nitrous II that are 20's for my 94 Thunderbird, just waiting to get tires.
Curious how much room these mini tubs free up. Looking to build a street/strip car and want to keep stock rear interior. At least as stock as possible. I want to put slicks on it when I go to the track and I need some decent size meats to lay down about 600 hp to the ground.
Mine's mini-tubbed and has the frame rails "pinched" and springs relocated 3" inboard. I've got 325DR's on it and have 1" clearance on the springs and 1" on the fender lips... Russ
^ more info please, like how'd ya move the springs inboard and by pinched ya mean ya nocthed the rails and if so how much?
I pretty much copied Crite's (early) comet/falcon kit, as they don't offer one for Mav's. The rails were notched 2" and the mini-tubs were built to match the rails. E-Mail me and I'll send you some pix, I'm about out of space here... Russ
