Oops, im sorry. it was a "Stabber" model... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=57197 pretty much the same never-the-less
74 maverick question i own a 74 maverick that im building, do you know if 16 x 8 wheels and 245/50 tires will fit and i also just purchased a grabber spoiler and matching quarter extensions to install on mine. other than drilling holes in my trunk for the spoiler, is there any other issues i have to worry about? thanks
I know a 16x7.5 will with a 225/55/16 the 245/50 will be a hair shorter and wider depending on the backspace they should fit ok
71 Comet GT the pictures i have are Polaroids taken back in 1972. ill get them scanned so i can move them via the internet. i also plan to put up my 74 Maverick pics during its rebuild. Ive built a 331 stroker for it with Victor Jr. aluminum heads. ill be installing the Grabber spoiler and quarter extensions soon and a set of Bullit wheels as well. Im currently working on 4 or 5 small rust issues i have and then the car will get a nice coat of Blue primer and a hood scoop. i have a question you or some of you other guys might be able to answer. one of the rust spots i havent got to yet is the passenger side floorboard, where could this water be coming from. i really dont think its the windshield?
insert Jaws music here... sounds like it could be a leaky cowl. do a search, there is a lot of info about them.
On your Grabber rear spoiler swap, the quarter extensions for '73 and earlier model cars are different than your '74 extension. The rear bumper for '73 and earlier cars curves up to meet the extension, the '74 and up rear bumper is straight across. Take a look through the pic gallery here to see that. Most folks end up doing a bumper swap-not hard but not simple. You have to find parts off of a '73 and earlier car to do that-several parts! Floor rust could be from the leaky cowl or leaking heater core in the past....or both. Good luck! Oh, do a search for 'COMET GT, Bearcat' and you will find pics of them.
I got real lucky on my 72 Maverick. When I looked at her sitting in the field there were buckets full of water sitting in the floorboards and the floors were wet as well. I thought leaking cowls but it is a cracked windshield gasket letting the water in thankfully. I dumped several gallons of water into the cowls on both sides to test it out. Good luck on fixing yours clint
