I did have a yellow box before I took it out. The harness and plug is still there and tied up with a zip tie...out of site...out of mind. I also have no wires connected to the switch under the seat.
Well I think it looks a ton better than stock. Maybe play around with photoshop a little and see if painting the lower half of the bumpers body color looks good it may not but give it a try.
I did 2 1/2 inches off my 73 and it looks good. If you go 3 inches it will cover part of the side marker light. I posted pictures in an earlier post on this thread. Lee "THE MAV" Richart
So do people do this to 70-72 bumpers??? Cause I've seen other ones and they look like there tucked in too
I prefer the Safety of the Big Bumpers albeit some would say false sense of security. Naw, I dont mind the stock big bumpers it add's to the one of a kind uglyness of the Maverick. It's the one memory stuck in peoples minds when they hear he bought a Maverick? Why? They are so ugly. Wrong!!!
I did 3" in front and 1 1/2" in the rear. I like it a lot better tucked. I did it myself, so there wasn't any cost.
I like it a lot better than stock. I'm gonna do it to mine for now......but small bumpers will be on the Maverick when its done.
Your sig makes me laugh every time I see it Killer Be. Its sooo true... or rust has eaten them first..
I hear you. Then again the junk yards around here strip the cars before they ever even make it to the yard. So wont waste my time on them anymore Nothing more soul crushing than spending hours/days/weeks looking for stuff in a yard to then be told by a employe on the d/l that your wasting your time and why.
Big bumpers are no more "safe" than small bumpers. They only allow the car to withstand a 5mph impact with minimal damage, which was government mandated on U.S. cars after 1972 for front and after '73 for rear. They were an afterthought which never would have happened without the government mandate (in fact, south American Mavericks never got big bumpers) and as a result, look quite hideous. I just chuckle every time I see someone claim that they love their big-bumper Mavericks for the "safety" of them. The small bumpers look the best (the '73 front bumper looks "decent").
