    here is a picture of the ball joint seperator..... the small one on the top left hand coner slides in just right...

    Yes, I got it out using a tool that looked like the one facelessnumber posted above :)

    It really came out sounding like a gunshot:p

    Only thing I haven't done now is to remove the roll pin:)

    use a pickle fork (looks like a really beefy bbq grill fork) but only use it if your rebuilding or getting rid of the valve. i used it on mine and the ball stud was still stuck in the pitman arm(it puled out of the valve) than just heat up the end of the pitman arm/ ball stud with a torch(preferably acetylene or mapp as they are much hotter than propane) grab the ball stud with some vice grips tightly and hit the pliers and it should come right out...this was my experience...gl hope all goes well. :D

    Does anyone have a pic of the roll pin, and it's measurements? I need a new one, but have no idea what it looks like.. I kinda pulverized mine :)

    i used a air hammer with a pointed tip, kept the castle nut on loosly and then used the pointed tip on the end of the tappered bolt / stud. worked great, thats how i remove all my ball joints now :) takes a couple seconds per joint

    I'm still wondering how that roll pin looks like; I took the whole link out in order to get a better view of things, but it doesn't look like there's a whole trough the entire link?
    I broke off the roll pin, and now I'm not really sure how to get it out:p

    I don't recall any roll pin. What part are you working on exactly? Any pics?

    Tried to point it out with an arrow on this pic:

    There was a locking pin there, to keep the control valve from moving sideways in the threads..

    Could you use drill bits to try and determin the size? I know they (roll pins) don't cost much and they can be found at auto parts stores and Home Depot.

    Does your manual show what size the pin is by chance? The one I have doesn't even show it.

    It's just that there doesn't seem to be a hole on the other side of the link, so beating any more on it wouldn't be much of a point if that's true :)

    well my steering piston is not rebuildable, well at least not easily. i am having a hard time getting the seals out. the end of the piston is welded (at the ball joint end) so you cant disassemble easily.
