Thanks guys. My goal is to get it 100% together and mechanically sound. Once that's done I'm going to do a partial disassembly for interior, bodywork and paint. It is going to be a driver so really no need do a complete restoration. It might look a little rough in the process, but I think the end result will be pretty nice.

It looks like at the moment the plan is to go back with the original pastel blue, a Comet hood scoop in flat black, the rear panel blacked out, taillight bezels blacked out and my Pinto frt spoiler.

This week I've just been tinkering with the car after work. I made a harness for the sending units and finally figured out how I'm going to made a throttle cable bracket. All I need to do is the weld the old 70 model bracket end to the 77 bracket that runs from the coil mount and over the valve cover (not sure what it's called).

After I made the sending unit harness and verified my idiot lights work, I thought that it would be nice to have a temp. gauge. I had put gauges in my package tray years ago so I'm going to get a 2" water temp gauge coming. Not sure what other gauge I'm going to put in in since there are 2 holes. I also had 2 3" speakers in the package tray. The sound wasn't the best but the holes are already there. Maybe some tweeters??

I have alot planned this weekend. Get the shift linkage on (thanks Craig) and wire up a relay to power my Duraspark. I'm also going to add a terminal strip so I have a few more 12v keyed power supplies. As soon as I get the driveline and electrical finished, I'm starting on the brakes. Everything will be new except for the drums and lines...that is if they're ok. I sure hate bending lines!

Only had about 3 hrs to work on the car because of rain AGAIN! I did get the shift linkage on and actually drove the car....well let's just say it moved under it's own power. Can't really drive it yet cuz no brakes.....but I tempted fate and drove around in the yard a little. (y)

I found some 70 Mustang frt backing plates so that rounds out the stuff I need to "correctly" make it a 5 lug car for good.

Almost forgot this....as many of you may know, Tennessee had a flood of historic proportions last week. Lucky for me I moved from my old house...it was flooded. Then this friday I heard my area was hit by baseball size hail. Car windows broke, gutters and roofs damaged. I came home from work to check on the Mav....no damage.

I did have some damaged shutters and I'm sure the shingles need replacing....but the number one concern was my car. Wheeew!

It's still raining so I figured I'd spend a little time indoors on the audio. I picked up a new radio and cut out the bezel. I bench tested the radio and it sounds pretty good but I'll have to figure out what all of those buttons do. :dizzy:

I've been getting some of my stuff together for inside the car like new carpet and audio. Figured I work on the consolette some. I don't plan on hooking up the clock....mainly because (if it works) I remember it didn't keep time for crap. I looked a little closer and found a little of what I was expecting...chewed wires. So far this appears to be the only damaged wires though. I had it in the trunk and that's where I found the nests at.

Make a bezel plate for it and put some gauges in it! It looks like it already has lights so it should be easy (relatively speaking).

I think I'm gonna remove the clock assy. and store it...and put something functional in the hole. But I'm gonna be sure not to alter the console so I can put the clock back if I want.

Man I got home today and it was like Christmas. I got the 70 Mustang frt brake assemblies, all 3 brakes hoses, 6X9 Kenwood speakers, new Wagner master cyl, carb kit and all 4 shocks. I hope the wheel cylinders come in soon so I can get to work on the brakes and rear suspension.

Between work, rain and women...I just haven't been getting much done. I have got quite a few parts in from internet purchases. Here's part of them:

That should keep me busy for awhile when I get the time.

And since I'll be needing air pressure soon for the bodywork, I trashed my portable compressor and upgraded a little. Hopefully it will do what I need it to.

Yep. My "rebodied" Shelby is next on the list as soon as the Maverick is done. It has been in my family since the mid 70s and not been driven since. It was my first car but we never got around to getting it going so all it has ever done is sat in a garage.....my Mav was my first "driver".

I sure wish I had the body of the car all of those parts came off of but I'm sure it was junked. We're guessing someone had or bought a wrecked GT-350 and put all of the stuff on this J code fastback.

Then the Cyclone...unless I find a Sprint Maverick before then!

I drove the car (if you can call it that since it has no brakes) for the last time for awhile. I pulled back out to the concrete pad so I can start teardown. Starting next week I'll start removing stuff to make way for the correct width rear end, correct leaf springs, new shocks, 70 Mustang frt backing plates, and all new brakes (everything new but the hard lines).

While it's down I am going to rebuild the carburetor and remove some of the 77 emissions stuff from the motor. Hopefully I'll have brakes soon and it will be somewhat driveable. :drive:
