here is the pic of the hood before i started to weld on the top there is enough room for my 14x4 in k&n air cleaner and have about 2in all the way around
yea i cleaned it up a bit around the edges it was cut into the bracing by someone else it came with my parts car when i bought it but it seems to be fine doesnt flex or anything so im guessing its fine
yes the about front half lied flat and when i welded it in it took very little body work just to smooth it out and the back half had to re bend the side to give the height i wanted while trying to match the original lines then glassed it and then bondo over it to smooth it out
I will be working with a glass scoop so it will be a little different. Welding it on seems like would be the better way, but not what I will be doing. I'll be feathering tho lol.
yea then youll have to use glass and get a good base line then bondo to smooth it out the rest of the way. just a tip like ive been taught to sand it down with 60-80grit first to give the glass something to grip to to last longer
Sickening how you newbees are progressing faster than me lol. jk I WILL be working on my car next week dangit!
what did the underside of the "cowl" look like? did it still have the brace on it when it was welded on or was it just the "skin"? Frank
This is great watching fab work progress and hearing the stories. Pretty neat what can be done with a little thinking, nice parts materials and a well thought out approach. My hat's off to all of you.
its just the skin on the cowl top section. i was thinking something would need to be on there to hold it stiff but when i cut it out it just separated from the bracing. then when i put it on the hood and bent it then clamped it in place and it was pretty stiff the only place that flexes is the far back lip
