I got the new carb on and removed all of the EGR and emissions stuff. It purrs like a kitten and runs great right out of the box but I found out the carb. is California emissions. I heard it would run lean but it actually seems a little rich. I guess I'll try it out and see how it does....I haven't adjusted anything yet.

Here's the EGR block off for a 5.0 that I used. It was only $14.00 inc. the gasket. I need 1 more plug for the air cleaner.

The engine bay is a little less cluttered than when it had vacuum hoses running everywhere.

The throttle cable bracket on this 77 model engine wouldn't work with my 70 model cable so I grabbed some metal and welded up a bracket. Filing out the square hole for the throttle cable end SUCKED but it works perfect.

Soon I'll have everything wrapped up under the hood and I will degrease and paint the engine along with the rest of the engine compt.

Not planning on doing alot to the car today, but I did throw the original grille back in and I'm getting ready to install the parking lights I just received. Not sure which style grille I'm gonna use yet....just wanted to see what it looked like. That grill hasn't been on the car since the 80s.

Ok this is killing me.......I wanna drive it so bad! Just gotta get the brakes finihed up first. This thing runs perfect...the new carb made all the difference. I got the parking lights on tonight and checked the lighting...all seems good.

Thanks. I know my neighbors probably think I'm crazy, but I've been out there all night idling the car around (about all I can do with no brakes). It's just so cool for this thing to be running this good again. It starts with one tap of the gas and the choke and fast idle work flawlessly. Good to hear it with a 250 back in it after 25 years. The 200 I had in it after the original 250 blew had a manual choke....this electric choke is nice!

I've still been getting stuff for the interior and I never really cared too much for the Grant Challenger stg wheel I have in the car. It seems too small to me (like 13") so I was wanting something around 15". I've always likes to old school chrome 3 spoke wheels with the holes in the spokes but most I've seen are pretty small as well. I bought an old 15 1/4" Grant 3 spoke and I'm hoping it's as nice as the guy says it is.

I ran across this pic today. It was when I first got my car when I was 15 and had just painted the grille black.....still had the hubcaps. And that's my old dog Tippy on the hood...and I think she's the one that chewed to corner of the picture.

This was a very busy weekend so I didn't get much done on the Mav. I put the radio & speakers in and wired it up. I pretty well got the temp gauge done. Reglued the rear view mirror vacuumed more dead ants out. When I pulled the carpet back to run the speakers, I found no signs of rust in the floorpans.

I really need to make up my mind about the rear end soon so I can get the brakes done.

Ok....I'm putting a Maverick 8" under this weekend. If it does look too narrow with these wheels, I'll put some other wheels on it. I'm also getting rid of the Granada leaf springs and reinstalling Mav springs too so that will drop the a$$ end alot....I hope not too low. :dizzy:
