    Engine Disassembly

It is now August 2009 and time to take apart the engine. My brother has tortured this poor engine. He sent the trans out to his "trans guy" to get it rebuilt.

    The bare block

There was a broken cam bearing, here's the crank and worn out cam

Timing chain gear was really worn and cracked. As i said before we knew the engine didn't have long!

My brother built a makeshift tent to use his portable sand blaster to clean out the engine compartment.

Block is back from being freshly machined. Bored .030 over and decked for better compression.

My brother takes his 68 Mustang there quite a lot. Believe it or not I have never been there! When the car is done I am going to give my brother the honor of seeing what it can do and then I think I will give it a try. He tells me I will really enjoy it. He says he does his racing at the strip and not on the road.

    Engine Rebuild Time

Alright here we go. I am by no means a gear head and mean no offense to those of you that are. I thank my lucky stars that my bother has this talent!!
I am about to assemble my first engine. I don't really have a clue what I am doing but I can follow instructions. My patient brother took me through this process every step of the way.

New freeze plugs and cam rings installed.

Here's the roller cam. Comp roller cam. 0.512 total lift, 221 degrees duration at 0.050" lift, 110 LSA. Don't know what any of that meant but my brother told me some of you might ask questions about it so there are the specs.

Happy Mick with Happy Engine (I hope)

Alright we finally caught up to this year. These pictures are from April of this year. My brother painted the engine the same color as the exterior of the car PPG Medium Green Polyurethane.

    Can't Upload

I've been trying to for two days to add some more pictures to this thread but I can't seem to get it to work the way I did before. So I'm just posting a reply without pictures to see if this maybe miraculously clears up the thread so I can post again.

I'm trying to add some pictures of the rear end work and under body clean-up. So stay tuned to see if I can clear up this technical glitch.
