I've been a gearhead most of my life, but I'm new to mavericks and what you have done here is an outstanding job of craftsmanship and documentation for those of us who don't know all the little things that are unique to these unibodys. It was about 5 yrs.that I raced full sized stock cars here at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe so I have the basic fab skills needed to get the job done (not quite as good as yours) so what you have done is to give those of us that are in the same boat a heads on a lot of things that may have taken at least a few years to learn the hard way. So I personally want to thank you for the great job that you have done here so far and I hope that you keep up posting your progress and I will be following closely and also using the thread as a reference tool.

Funny you should mention the name of your track as all of the pavement stock cars that I have built over the years were raced at a track called Evergreen Raceway here in Pennsylvania. I went to Tacoma back in 05 and I wanted to get to your Evergreen but ran out of time. Maybe someday.

No I am not going to put a door bar in the pass side atleast for now(swing outs don't really add that much to the car anyways).....

My shop needs to be cleaned desperately, and once I get this rollbar mess done it will get cleaned.....

Thats cool I didn't know that there was another Evergreen Speedway. You can go to evergreenspeedway.com and check it out. It's off season so the site is out of date and there changing management for next season (it's got to be better) it's a cool track it's a 5/8 with a 3/8 and a 1/5 with a paved infield for figure 8 and they do 1/8th mile drags on th front stretch not sure where they do the drifting but thats done here to, so it can be a busy place in the summer. Is there a web site for your track I'd like to check it out?

It was called Evergreen Speedway from the 40's until 2000(Jimmy Spencer's family ran it from 77 till 82) - then it bacame Mountain Speedway but for the last 2 years it was called Sundance Vacation Speedway (kind of hoaky) as they sold the naming rights. I guess it's going back to being called Mountain Speedway for 2011. Here's the link to their website and if you go down the left to the Kevin Green Photos link you can see pictures from 2010.

Hey Frank what did you do with the seats that where in the car when you started this post I would like to try and buy them if possible.

 

They are long gone, I sold them locally shortly after buying it.....



Tuesday morning I got a little time in on the car..... I finished the swing out side bar..... Then got a little more work done on the pass side seat mount.....

and the progress on the seat mount.....

 

I got a little more done this morning.....

Cut off and end capped the back inside tube of the seat bracket.....




The 2 stud plates for the inside mounts are ready to be cut off.....




and got the front inside reinforcement plate made, welded in, marked up and drilled.....

Do you plan on painting the roll cage or are just gonna put foam on it?

 

It will get painted with Hammered finish black.....




Finished the pass side seat mount today..... Also welded up all the old extra seat mounting holes in the pass side floor and shifter mounting holes in the top of the trans tunnel..... Then I got the new shifter mouning stand off's tacked in place..... Tomorrow hopefully I can finish mounting the shifter and get all the seat belt mounting tabs welded in.....

Welded in the shifter mounts, upper seat mounts, shoulder harness tabs and a reinforcement plate for the crotch strap mount..... I need to make some threaded stand off for the lap belt mounts this week.....

and the reinforcement plate for the crotch strap mount, the plats is also plug welded in 3 places directly to the subframe flange.....

 

OK Good Job...I'm starting to feel a little safer now Be sure and plate those seats in case of a REALLY BAD CRASH they will stay mounted....Great Work.
