i hope your not using a wire brush on those valve covers, they are very rare and bring alot of $$ if there not damaged (wire brushing damages them)
What..no snow on the east coast yet???? It's snowing here in Ontario!! Man, that car has been beat on, I hope you have lots of patience!!
No snow down here yet, I want there to be so I can try my quad out with the ski-kit i made for it. The car used to be in mint shape til someone ran into it when my dad was coming home one day. To get the motor in i will use a box and tackle set just needed to use those to get it out. I will get some pics of the motor mounts for ya's later, there look pretty interesting.
I was wondering what happened as the driver's side inner apron looked like it had gotton clobbered at one time.
Yeah it looks like it's been hit. Thunderbird motor for sure. This is my kind of hotrod. Stuff it as full of engine as possible! I once owned a Skylark(Nova style) with a Caddy 500 in it and welded gears. Scary is an understatement. Love this car.
They can't be Maverick, unless they were highly modified... That's the ones in my 74... I've even looked at Mustang ones online, and they have deeper ridges that those, they look alot like the Maverick ones do.
What year and type ( Maverick or Comet ) is that white car in the picture. It has the Boss 302 style brace on the shock towers
Those towers look like a big block Torino that someone drilled the spot welds for the motor mount brace of and then welded a plate over.
The shock towers look the same as my 71 has, except they removed the center support rib down to the frame rail where they attached there motor mount bracket.....
I think your right Frank....I said in a previous post that it looked like the towers themselves have always been with the car ( if you look at the outside or suspension side of the car they look like they belong to the car ). I think all they did was remove the motor mount part and that plate was already there.. Makes for a lot more room to do what you want with your motor mounts.Gj
