    Picture request....power brake booster.

Hey guys, I am hoping some of you would be so kind as to post a picture or two of your power brake booster and your V8? I am in the process of some power brake mock up and don't have the engine in the car to check fitment. How big of a booster will fit with a 302? A 7", 8" or 9"?

Show me what you have please?

    Glenn

Are you wanting the FACTORY set-up?

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
The factory setup cleared my 302 fine, even with tall valve covers. It is tilted up, I don't know if that is to make more room or what.

No Craig I am going with an aftermarket unit. Thanks for the picture. I am trying to see what some of you guys have done, what fits and what doesn't.

Not a lot of aftermarket boosters going in, there was someone that bought one and installed it (I can't remember who, it was awhile ago) Some of the Falcon guys have used Geo Metro boosters, and there were some sites, I'll see what I've saved.

Check w/ "mavdog71", on this forum, he uses an aftermarket booster frm www.Abspowerbake.com. I think its an 8" used on 60-66 Falcon/Ranchero. I believe the pt # is 9782-PB2. Also, u can contact the company. If I recall, he was not able to/ or did'nt use the tower support after installion. I believe he has some pix of it in his gallery. Hope this helps.

I have an aftermarket 7" single diaphram booster with the stock M/C in my mav. Dont have a pic, but will get one to you tommorrow, hopefully. I bought it from ebay, heres a link to a similar unit, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-ST...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Mods are needed to get it to fit the firewall but not too serious, plus it works great and fits in the space, and am using the non-booster tower braces

If the car is going to have power steering, hydroboost brake MC setups are pretty compact, too. No big booster needed, just a couple lines from the PS pump. (y)

Thats a nice setup. are you using the manual brake pedal assembly? What did you do for the pedal rod?

    Yes, manual brake pedal.
Once the booster is mounted, I cut the rod and welded it to a threaded nut that screws onto the booster shaft, pretty simple. The hardest part of the setup was to remove the pedal support and notch a place for two of the booster bolts, so I could get to it and install the nuts to them. Those were the bolts that originally mounted the m/c to.

    Hay nuts

Yes I used the booster from ABS Power Brakes in Orange ca .. The fit looks better than factory . About 1/2'' behind spring tower .

Things need to know when ordering the booster.

Mounting studs need to be 2 3/8'' to 2 1/2'' long.

Stock mounting studs removed and drilled out to 3/8'' or larger

Push rod opening in fire wall need to be opened up about 3/16''

Good luck booster and master works great..
