Mine came on the car and I havent changed them. Just old school traction bars. They need to go. Just a little bit too old school looking for me now. The more I read about Caltracs I see no reason not to buy them. Unless of course Derek wants to build me a set like his. :)

    Heres mine.

I ran 12.70s on slapper bars and slicks before I went 3 link and tubs. The basic secret to slappers is the way they're set up. You set the right snubber to 1/8", the left snubber to 3/8s-1/2" and add 2lbs air extra in the right rear. If you want to do it 100%, you add material to the bar so that the snubbers hit the front spring eye (basics of a cal-trac). You older guys (like me LOL) will remember Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins running high 10s with slappers way back in the 70s on his Camaro.

Thanks Darren, but i still think i can refine the launch alot. The car unloads the rear suspention after the initial hit on the tire.Slapper bars definately work my friend Tony's 68 Camaro has gone 10.80's with Lakewood bars. And yes his hero "The Grump"

Yep mine are a bit short. Plan on getting rid of them otherwise yes they would need extending to the eye. I'm sure they would work better.

When i modified mine thats what i did, made them nail the spring eye.My friends 396 Nova had trac bars that were too short and the snubber was actually bending the spring

    No Caltracs here.....

QUICKSHIFT I love the old pic from Cayuga.I saved that picture on my computer years ago good to see it again.Do you still have the car? How about a little history? I love tohearabout old race cars expecially that have raced at Cayuga. There are a few local guys that have old drag cars from the 70's and 80's tucked away.
