1972 Maverick Grabber Resto/Mod for my Dad

    The install will be awhile. The car is currently on a roustiserrie (SP) and the body work is almost done. I am hoping to get it painted in the next month or two. Then the fun will begin on putting it back together. There are a lot of parts that I have been working on to get them restored so they are worthy of going back on the car.

    I want to thank the members on here for the parts and information I have needed to get this far.

    I have thought about starting a build thread on the car. I have documented most of it with pictures. Let me know if that is something members would be interested in or if it would be a waste of time.

    [​IMG]I got in touch with Fred Carillo, (fmc56) on the forum, and he was kind of nuff to make me a set of seat covers and door panels for the Maverick.

    He got them made up and sent to me in Colorado where I found a local upholsterior to install them. The seats have new covers, backs, levers,hinge covers, and foams. While the seat were apart all repairs and repainting were done.

    Here is what they look like after they were finished up.

    subframe connectors

    I wanted to make sure the bottom of the Maverick was finished up and wanted to make sure to install subframe connector. I went ahead and gone with Chassis Engineerings Subframe Connectors. They had some of the best customer service out of any of the vendors I have worked with during this build and I would recommend them and their product to anyone.

    We rolled the body on rotiserrie so it would sit level. We then placed jacked stands at the areas the suspension would support the body.

    After getting the body where we thought was as close to straight and level as we could we tack welded the subframe connectors to the frame rails under the car. We tacked them in numerous places to make sure nothing would move when we removed the jackstands and rolled the car on its side to finish weld the subfame connectors in.

    When we were finished the door gaps remained the same as before we started. I am definately happy with the results and the welds look good.

    Fred does amazing work and it is second to none. The upholsterior I use to install the covers commented on how good the covers were.

    i was trying to figure out why the dates on this post were all the same. then i saw the last one.
    it was nice seeing this again. the car is going to be incredible.

    I hope this doesn't constitute thread highjacking, but could someone tell me if these seats are the same as any particular Mustang seats (under the covers, of course). I want a set for my Mav, and Mustang seats seem much easier to come by. John B

    After a little time away from the build because of work, I am back hard at it to get going again.

    I decided to fill the side marker lights in.

    We also decided to roll the fenders. With installing 245/45/17's on the rear and 245/40/17's on the front we need as much room as possible.

    We are using American Racing Torque Thrust II's. 17x8's with 3.5" back spacing on the rear and 17x8"s with 4.75 back spacing on the fronts.

    Started to block the engine compartment for some color.

    We decided to paint the engine compartment and the bottom of the maverick. The color we are using is a Z06 Corvette Yellow call velocity yellow.
