I had the (2) 235-60-14's from the 73 wheels mounted on the refinished 76 steel wheels this morning.

I put them on the driver's side of the 76 at my dad's this afternoon.

I attempted to remove the passenger side wheels.

Had to smash the rear wheel w/ a 30 lb. 1920's pipe wrench (I was lacking a sledge hammer) to get the damn wheel off the rusted rear axle hub.

All went well (20 minutes later), I'll have the 185-75-14's removed Monday morning, and drop the wheels off for sand blasting!

:rofl2:Sorry Bro...Long day. A C90E is a 1969 351W from a 70 Torino with thicker webing to tap for 4 bolt mains on #2,3 and 4. Great Block for a forged H Beam internal balanced 393 stroker with a 100 shot of nitrous or a later addition of Forced Induction. A Mex Block is a 1971 302 with thicker Main caps and cylinder walls, from the ford plant in Mexico. Great Block for a forged H Beam internal balanced 332 Stroker with a 100 shot of nitrous or a later addition of Forced Induction.

And to think, not 4 months ago I had no Idea what all that meant. The Peeps on this forum are "The Best Of The Best". Good People and Great Teachers.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Remember to keep in mind that your deck height is 9.480, all 351w from 1969 to mid year 1971 had this height, in mid 1971 they went to 9.503.
The current block/motor I just did the dyno pull has the 9.480 deck, which gave me a little fudge room to play with the pistons/rod length. My rods are 6.250 although the pistons are specially built for this motor.
    Just a word of caution.
I have a couple of extra sets of 4bolt main caps for the early 351w's, but they are not splayed because although the early blocks have about 10lb more material in the main web area.........they don't have enough material for the angled bolt............and ofcourse the cost of installing the 4blt mains can be around $500.............if you can find a machinest that knows what he is doing and can set the air cap correctly..........................IMHO

i finally started on tearing down the maverick. mashori helped. it definitely stirred up some emotions against a volkswagen jetta and the girl driving it. i really got into pulling what i could out of the trunk and was impressed with the strength of the fuel cell. it didnt rupture or crack. it did tear through the front portion of the floor pan that it was pushed into.
heres the only pic i took today. mo took allot more and ill put them up in my build thread when i get them.

I read about the deck hieght change, Im still a little confused about the repercusions of stroking this block. Im not gonna do nuthin till Im sure about what Im doing. Thanks Bro.

RC builds the best motors down here and hes a friend. To bad hes a mopar guy. We havent talked about this 351 yet. But he'll do the sonic test on the cylinder walls next week. Then we'll have a skull session.

Cleaned up the shop around the Comet. Organized some parts and put them into crates. Admired some NOS parts I haven't seen in a few months.

I think my deck hieght is fine for a 393, Im leary of the rod angle of the 408s and above. Dont like the splayed Idea, found a supplier for staight 4 bolt mains. Even untapped 4 bolt mains with a Girdle is better than stock.

"Girdle".....I dont like calling it that cause I know what a Girdle is. Im too old for this.

I am not trying to be critical here, just trying to understand why you want to go with a 393 stroker instead of 408. The motor I just refresh'd had been untouched for some 11 years and when I tore it down the only concern I had was with the crank...............but nothing wrong with the cylinders/pistons/rods.................normal wear and tear for a race motor.

So, lets talk about rod angle............if you are building a 393 stroker with the standard rod length of 5.956 and a stroke of 3.850 you actually have a rod ratio of 1.547:1.......................my 408's rod length is 6.250 with a 4.00 stroke...........which gives me a rod ratio of 1.5625:1 which although not great is marginally better than your 1.54:1, plus you are giving up 15ci which at 1.57HP per cubic inch.........(I'm taking my HP figures as average) is 23HP and probably about the same in Torque..............so why go with a 393????????????????

As I said, "splayed" center mains on a factory 351w block will not work as there is not enough material.........and yes, the only type of 4blt main that work is the straight outboard design 4blt main cap........I just hope you aren't thinking about buying those C.A.T. iron 4blt mains...................they are made in China and are junk! The only way to go is billet............IMHO
