while waiting on an A/C bracket, I took a look at a starting situation I was having...I think I have it after 6 months messing with it.

You will have to change the back seat as well. Your old 1971 back seat will not fit when you install the 1973 panels.

Having the driveline lengthened. The engine swap moved the trany forward a inch or so.

Mav71 If you need a steering column I've got one that needs the top end rebuilt including the key, lock cylinder and the cast collar they mount into. kafrompa

Yea, I'm sure I'll have to change the bottom part of the seat but I'm hoping the backrest will still be the same. Thinking about completely re-doing the back seat area anyway and setting it up for my now-3-year-old daughter to ride in (she may be 4 or 5 before we actually get to ride it seems sometimes!). Just a single racing seat in the center of the back with a 4-point harness and also rig it so that a good child car seat will latch and tether in safely. Something where she can be comfortable and see the road but still be safe. I'm sure that will require some extensive mods to the seat or homeade brackets welded into the back seat area... She's so excited about our "new/old yellow Maverick" and want her to enjoy it too but has to be safe for her...

Flushed the tranny, new filter, new cooler lines, fixed the sloppy 40 yr. old linkage. Got the new timing chain and gears on and cleaned up the oil pump while I was at it since I had to remove the pan anyhow.

Change the short rubber pieces of hose in my fuel lines. It appeared the one under the drivers door may have bn changed at some point, it had screw adjustable clamps and the rubber was not real brittle. The one at the tank had spring type clamps and the rubber was more brittle; it may have bn the original setup. i had changed the hose under the hood "to fuel pump" sometime ago, when I had the pwr steer pump out for overhaul.
Anyway, I feel much better abt that springing a leak - most likely leaving me stranded. I had put it off much to long. Ready to make my first long ride of the season.

went through the drive shaft part all the way to the axles and I am happy to say all went well and I am back on the road with only a u-joint replacement. Was having a loud clunk noise and some drive shaft rotation when I put it into gear so I thought it may be time to rebuild the rear end but lucky for me the guy who owned the car before me had all new gears put into the car but was to cheap to replace the u-joints .....like a different car today!!
