Are you running a 302? I just tore the motor down last weekend on my 73 and the crank is in good shape. I plan on putting a 347 in it with a 4340 crank so the NOS won't kill it. I might be able to help you with some of the bottom end parts.

Hey Russ, maybe it's time to start wearing a diaper.:rofl2:
    Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I just noticed that the pan isn't more than a couple of inches off the ground...........and I thought mine was low at 4" under the pan and pavement......................have you ever tried any "Autocross" with the car?

Got sick of the rough idle and charging system problems. So I stopped off at radio shack last night and bought parts for upgrades.

Ran a 12 awg wire from the alt to a good grounding point which fixed the charging system problems.

And wired in a relay to bring 12 volts straight to my Petronix setup. I have the original wire pulling the relay closed. 12V 30amp relay, pulls at 6V, stuck a 20 amp fuse inline as a safety to prevent anything blowing up.

Engine purrs now instead of having a rolling miss. :yahoo: might bring me up from the 16 mpg I've been getting. might hit 18 now.

I finished applying Peel & Seal inside of the quarter panels/wheel house then draped and taped aluminum faced sound deadener between over the opening and behind the rear seat. I now have all six sides of the cabin covered with sound deadener and insulation.

Nice! That's exactly what I want to do with mine when I freshen the carpet and repaint some interior trim.

These old classic cars have tons of air leaks and rattling going on before consideration for NVH came along. They sure aren't built like a Caddilac.. that's for sure. :)

Is this dynamat or a different brand. I have been wanting to do this to mine. Both for the sound and for the heat.

    Thanks,
    Bobo

Actually it’s made for building houses but it looks/works the same as the high dollar stuff. Here is one of many links on Peel & Seal. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=82964

Now don't get me wrong here since I don't want to be pissing off the regulars/experts for fear of never getting any of my questions replied to down the road.. BUTTTT.. why the hell would you guys put tar based products all over your cars?

If you look into the details and materials used for these products?.. it's like comparing mud to cement. Totally different compositions entirely and differing characteristics when it comes to the intended purpose here. Plus, Dynomat and others intended for this purpose are "more easily" removed(although still a PITA).. should you ever need to worry about it later on.

Sorry.. and not trying to be the new prick on the block around here.. but I just don't see the savings being worth the hassles over the longterm, is all.

Might even be cheaper to use brush on mastic.. and combine it with foil duct wrap for similar effect. Of course, I tease.
