    Y'all are stuck on one brand/type here, all he needs to use is the wide band exhaust clamps, like they use on the big trucks. Nothing hangs down on these, unless you position the bolt wedges in the 6 o'clock position.

    I guess I'd never seen these before...................they are cheap and if you can find one with your OD pipe size would be worth trying;

    Yea, that's it. Summit lists them in the smaller sizes he needs. Granted, he's only going to gain about a half inch clearance by loosing the collector flanges, if he really wants more then custom headers are where he needs to go. Pretty sure he needs to stay away from shorty's with the HP he's talking about.

    I was joking when I said use a Windsor block, but that extra height really does help with header clearance under the car, so it occurred to me... How 'bout raising the engine a little bit?

    Then your messin with driveshaft angles....also he doesnt want that engine weight higher in the chassis for road racing.

    With this suspension...........you basically stay stock................and have the ability to adjust the ride height.................and inch or two could make all of the difference plus this would really handle a lot better than your current stock suspension.........................just a thought.

    the suspension I have right now is a double adjustable coil-over conversion. You actually make a good point because my car has sagged unfortunately due to me installing the bolts improperly. Maybe fixing that will help quite a bit. thanks for pointing that out.

    I didn't realize what your suspension was.
    Maybe it's just the picture, but it looks like the shock pedestals are bent?
    I'm pretty sure you can adjust it enough to keep the header flanges from hitting.

    What did they say about those bending like that? Did VariShock give you a reason?

    I ran long tube Headmans for years on another car, they really hung low...I'm more than happy with the Doug Thorley shorties, I'll be ordering another set for my other car.

    any chance you might have a pic from under the car, like a profile shot to see how low they are?
    As for the shocks, they were very helpful, they sent me a free set that apparently would solve the problem of over-tightening. They think I over-tightened the ears which is possible. The instructions are confusing and detailed and I tried my best to follow them.
