1972 Maverick Grabber Resto/Mod for my Dad

The tail lights will be the last body modification except for maybe moving the seat belt attach location.

 

Looks awesome!! Much less work than the Shelby panel swap that I did...

 

That is an amazing modification if the panel is replaced. Definitely one of my favorite changes. I have not seen picture of yours but Ray's is awesome.

 

The panels were trimmed up and fit in the cut outs on the rear tail light panel on the maverick.

I got home this evening and the tail light lenses arrived. I will get pictures of them put in place tomorrow and post them up.

 

I can't take it anymore....get this car done. This is an awesome build!!!

 

I brought the tail lights down to the shop today and put them in place to see what they would look like when installed. Sorry for the tape that shows through the tail lights, but that is what I used to hold them in place.

 

Believe me I want it done as well. I am just hoping it is just close to as nice as yours. I am hoping to have it together by Christmas minus the motor, transmission, fuel system and cooling system.

 

Sweet! they look like they belong, it's one of those modifications that just look natural.

 

Ive read this build before and nothing but love has gone into it. have you widened the back? or does it just look really wide because of the tail lights?

 

I have not widened the rear. It must be an optical illusion.

I appreciate all the great comments towards the build. I am hoping to have more pictures up tomorrow.

I have been working with a local guy that restores plastic panels and I am hoping that the rear side panels I have turn out. I had two set done. One with ash trays and one without.

 

This shot was taken at such a low angle, the car looks much wider than tall. The roof even looks chopped. Neat picture

 

I been out of town on business again and just got back. I am hoping that the maverick will be ready for paint in a couple of weeks.

The goal is to get the body work on the hood finished up as well as the 3 valances and finish up the final blocking. Then get the seal coat shot.

Then get the engine compartment and the bottom of the car painted. Once that is done we plan on getting suspension installed so we can roll it around.

The tail light panel is finally finished up. We took the brackets that was on the 1969 camaro tail panel and adapted them to work on the maverick so the tail lights will bolt in like they were stock.
