Good to know its a 70. Those tail lights are sweeeet!! What did you use to glue the red lens together?
It was a clear, 2 part epoxy made for plastics. The lens plastic was the easy part. The aluminum extrusions were a real pain.
One more (probably not the last) question. In this pic.. You can see the foam padding between the white lens and the red non-lit reflector. I noticed there is a small channel behind it leading from the white lens to the red reflector. Do you thing removing the foam would light up both the lens(once it is red) and the reflector?
No, the reflector part will not allow enough light to pass through it so that it would resemble a taillight or brake light. Actually, take a close look at the inside of a taillight lens. There are 100's of little light bending and refracting prisms. Use the lens part if you want another tail / brake light.
If you wanted something unique and since you don't want the b/u lamps, modify the bezels and lenses to eliminate the divider bar. Perhaps the bezel could be hammered out after cutting out the divider and repolished. If not maybe you could find a welder to heliarc or tig to reweld some bezel sections. If you can get a perfect line cut in the lenses, you could attach them with clear epoxy or rear view mirror glue. Don't use super glue, it will cloud the lenses.
I think it's the guy who makes the carbon fiber hoods. I just used it for a photochop to see what the taillights would look like with no b/u lamps.

I have an extra set of bezels. I might look at them to see if I can cut out the divider bar and hammer them into shape and polish just as an experiment.
I like that, but you would have to cut out the reflector part and make sure to use only lens parts. I dont think I could get the seam clean enough. I would need to keep the bar to cover the seam. @ dave ...when I started this I was surprised to not find a write up on it.
Soaked the bezels in some of that brown bottle degreaser and hair remover. A little hydrogen gas later and they look much better. White film is gone. Pics are in the post above link.
I got my sequencers from www.webelectricproducts.com , I think I got that right. 70 bucks to my door and very easy to install. I also have an extra set of tail lighyts you can have if you want them.

Id think that a manual speed adjustment would be better. Do they even make different speed flashers for our cars?
