well my car started running really bad when i did that so i just put the points back in . i put the car in drive and it started jerking bad .so now im confused .any help on this problem? thank you

Do you still have the instruction?? http://www.pertronix.com/support/manuals/pdf/ignitor12vneg.pdf Something got installed wrong. did the magnet thingy (reluctor) go on the rotor correctly? did you open the gap on the plugs from stock .035" +to .045" ??
Good "point", Dirt... lol check the 8 or 6 kit thing. I've installed these on boats with twin 350 engines etc... cars, countless, for 20 years.. Never failed some in service that long! Whats not to like??? Oh... they dont say MSD
I'm not either. I tried both in my Maverick. The Duraspark gives better performance and better MPG...night and day difference
Buy the Ford Six performance handbook if you plan to do anything. First...before you do anything to the engine itself, do as others say...install the duraspark distributor. You can order this from any parts warehouse, brain box and all. 2nd...you still want more mods to do? Milling the head is need be. 3rd...Still want more power? While the heads off have the machine shop custom fit a 2 barrel carb flange for your head. Info can be found in the handbook and fordsix.com 4th...still want more go power, head over to classicinlines.com and tell them your setup and order a cam, lifters, and springs for your build. Order some headers from them while your there. Thats just a 'rough' run down for a 250. Like others have said, it'll cost money that no gm 350 or SBF would require comparatively. I recommend for those building a tom cat of a inline 6 to get the 200, it has better top end then the 250. The 250 is out of steam about 3,500-4,000 RPM and isn't wise to keep it up there. The more gears you have for a straight six the better. Pair a 5 speed with the 250 and can keep the RPM's low enough to get the torque to the ground 5 times fast. My 2 cents.
