was working on the heater again. after treating the rust with some rust converter it was time to sand it down to the metal. now its smooth (some stains, but no more rust) and ready for paint with rust tough. that should be good to keep it rust free a few years...
I did not know any of the heater box cases had any part of the exterior case made of metal. My 73 w/ AC box is all glass on the exterior. Interesting...
its a heater case of a mexican 1970 falcon maverick, so it maybe from the falcon or it may be because its mexican. or both... i painted it black and it looks great and clean now! :bananaman

and the cluster im working on is almost finished. painted white, green LEDS for bakclight, wite LEDS for dummy lights and green needles to make a detail matching the car
Nice tail lights! I love them on the maverick I am putting together. I recommend cutting the 69 Camaro tail panel apart and welding them in versus just cutting holes in the stock tail light panel. It turns out much nicer and it does look like you just cut a hole in an existing panel.
Im impressed by the quality of work! Its awesome that you have found someone that cares and takes pride in what they are doing. it sucks that the previous owner only covered up the bad and didn't correctly fix everything that was wrong with the car but glad that its all getting done the right way. Keep up the hard work and I hope it gets easier and less cost effective.
thanks for the tip, but to find a 69 camaro tail panel is in mexico absolutely impossible. and if i would find one, i would stop building the mav and rebouild the camaro around the tailpanel! hahah can you tell me what exactly is especial in the camaro tailpanel?? is there something like a ring around the lights? i could try to rebuil this on the mav tail panel... thanks
thanks alot!! its good quality work they are doing, but it needs alot of effort to keep them pushing on working on what i want to get done... its a real shame how the previous owners worked on it, but worse that i bought it. could have bought a much cheaper and better base, but i learnt it the hard way. if i will look for my next project in some time, i sure will check better. but now im so deep into fixing mine, there is no return. but it doesnt get easier, and cost effective is a word i had to clear from my vocabulary. but thats mostly the fault of my idea of what i want to add to the car! and that is much the fault of the many great builds on here, that inspire to add more and more...
You can buy them at numerous places online and on ebay. They are not that expensive. You can see how I did it through my build thread.
i checked it and they are around 180USD in the states. so with transport and taxes it will be at least 300USD to have a thin line around my taillights... i will try bend the mav tail panel a bit, so it comes out to the cut. or maybe put some fine steel around it, should work as well. and if not i leave it flat as cid has it done in his, it looks great as well. but thanks for advice, ill see how to do it best.
rear bumper alignment they finally managed to fit on the rear bumper and check the alignment. they say it has to be like this, but i dont like it. is the original 72/73 bumper wider than the car? the left side gap looks not that big, but the right side i dont like. so probably its not well center as well. anyone has cut the sides of the bumper to make the lines fit better? where is best to cut that it looks nice and smooth? as well i think its a bit far away on the right side... any one knows how the part is called that is missing inside the bumper on the side? is that the lower quarter panel extension? what year i have to use that it looks better? and thats the bondo part which was there before, i think the car is now at least 20kg lighter as all the bondo used by the preowner is off...
